Flaming River now offers an integrated key column. The key is
located at the 3 o’clock position just like you would expect
from Flaming River. No welded on attachments or extra relays.
Modeled after the popular Muscle Car Columns with Tilt and
Ignition Key built into the column but still attractive enough
to put in your street rod. Flaming River manufactures the column
complete with a GM coded key assembly, wiring and ignition
switch. Flaming River uses state-of-the art, All New Components.

These all new tilt steering
columns are made in the USA by Flaming River. These are just the
ticket for a more comfortable & enjoyable classic Mustang.
These greatly increase leg room and reduce driver fatigue by allowing
proper adjustment to each driver's individual needs. We offer two
different versions. Columns can be ordered to fit OEM steering
wheels since they have the correct splines for all 1964-70
Mustangs. (Note:
Original wheels remove the canceling cam tab. Aftermarket wheels may
need to drill a hole for the canceling cam. Trim steering shaft if
using stock box). These will work with aftermarket wheels as well, as long
as you use the correct Ford Adaptor. If you plan on running an
aftermarket wheel you can save money by ordering the GM splined steering column
and use the adaptor for your wheel to GM. It is identical with the exception of the
GM splined shaft is not correct for Fords. The adaptor
C5ZZ-3514-GMA is required to run the Grant brand steering wheels with
the GM splined aftermarket column. You can upgrade to either
the dimmer switch option which replaces the turn signal arm with one
that will work to dim your headlights, or the cruise control option. But
you cannot do both. Click here for Steering
Boxes
& Flaming River Rack & Pinion Kits.
Check out the new Aftermarket Steering Wheels
selection to fit the GM Splined columns below.
When using an aftermarket un-dished steering wheel on a 1967-70
Mustang, we recommend the 33" column. On the same cars, if you are using
an aftermarket dished wheel, you may want to use the 32" column if you
have long arms. If you want to retain
the original Ford Steering Wheel with Ford splines, use the correct
Ford Splined column below. If you have an aftermarket steering unit (ie Rack
& Pinion), order the installation kit below for R&P kits and select the
appropriate Ujoint. If you don't see the Ujoint listed, please call
702-262-0011 for assistance.For 1970
model year Mustangs, you can use the respective columns as the earlier
years to obtain the Ford Spline and use the original wheel, but you will
have to obtain an ignition switch and wire into your car. We now carry
the new GM spline "Key in Column" versions but you will have to use an
aftermarket wheel. The 33" version is best used with the stock gear box,
the 32" version is better used with rack & pinion upgrades.

Q. How do I know if I have a long or short shaft?
A. The only year in question is 1967. This is a change over year.
1964-67 all had long shaft columns. There's nothing between the column
and the box as the shaft is integrated with the box. It runs all the way
through the column up to the steering wheel without a break. Mid 1967 they switched to a short shaft version that has a
rag joint between the
steering box and column.
Q. I have a high end build and want to use the
billet ball and socket firewall mount. What else do I need?
A. The steering wheel adaptor is needed for aftermarket wheels. From
there you need the ball and socket mount #FR20101, the horn relay
#FR-HRN2, the female connector kit #FR20118, insulator #FRBSH-1 and the
appropriate Ujoint for your application. We detailed the installation of
the ball & socket mount in a
tech article here as there is a small modification required to use
the ball and socket style mount.

here for any additional tech questions you may have!
All
columns require a one of the "Mounting Kits" . NOTE: 1964-early 67 cars will have to cut
down their shaft coming out of the steering box.
