Seal Warped Flanges

50% Crush -
Remflex Exhaust Gaskets come in a
standard 1/8" thickness and crush 50%. This allows them to fill gaps in
the flange surface up to 1/16"!
No More Burn Outs
Material Good to 3000 Degree Fahrenheit -
Remflex Exhaust Gaskets are good to
3000 degrees Fahrenheit. That far exceeds the temperature of any vehicles exhaust
system!
No Need to
Re-torque
30% Rebound -
Remflex Exhaust Gaskets rebound 30%.
This creates the optimum seal against both flanges eliminating the need
to re-torque!
About Remflex-
For
years people have struggled with exhaust leaks. It seems anyone who
works on cars or trucks, whether a professional or enthusiast, has
encountered an exhaust leak that just would not go away. We all know
the frustration that goes along with a problem you can't find a solution
to! Remflex Exhaust Gaskets will fix your exhaust leak for good.
Whether you have an old pick-up you use on the farm and need a gasket
for that old manifold, or you have a street rod in the garage you just
got that new set of headers for, Remflex Exhaust Gaskets will do the job
right the first time.
We all know the time involved in repairing an exhaust
leak. You have to get to those header or manifold bolts in the back,
remove mounting brackets, plug wires, vacuum lines, resurface your
header or manifold flanges, then put it all back together. Why would
you want to go through all that work just to install the same old
exhaust gaskets that you have fought with for years?
There are a few different reasons exhaust leaks
occur. Remflex Exhaust Gaskets are the only product on the market that
addresses them all. No matter what you may have, whether it's the
oldest manifold to the most expensive set of headers, give yourself the
peace of mind that the job is going to last where it matters - at the
exhaust gasket.
The Science-
Remflex
Exhaust Gaskets work because they solve all of the problems inherent in
sealing an exhaust flange. There are two primary causes for an exhaust
leak. These problems are prevalent in both headers and exhaust
manifolds.
1. Warped and/or pitted exhaust
flange.
Due to the extreme heat in
a vehicles exhaust system your header and exhaust manifolds are prone to
warping and pitting. Remflex Exhaust Gaskets crush 50% allowing them
to seal gaps in your header or exhaust manifold sealing surface up to
1/16". A common misconception is that if you have spent a lot of
money for thick flange headers you won't need to use a quality gasket.
The reality is, it's better to have a thicker flange but it does not
solve the problem of warping all together. At the temperatures of an
exhaust system it does not matter how thick your header flange is, it
will still warp. You have the same issue with exhaust manifolds, which
generally are made of cast iron and have much thicker flanges.
The other issue is the
gasket sealing surface on the cylinder head. The cylinder head is just
as prone to warping as your header and exhaust manifolds are. Plus,
this is where you will see pitting on older vehicles. Pitting on the
exhaust gasket surface of a cylinder head is normal wear and is inherent
to the application. Excessive pitting can be caused by running the
vehicle with an existing exhaust leak, trapping heat between the sealing
surfaces of the vehicles cylinder head and header or exhaust manifold.
Remflex Exhaust Gaskets solve both of these problems because they
crush 50% allowing them to seal gaps in your header or exhaust manifold
sealing surface up to 1/16".
2. Gasket failure
Gasket failure can be attributed to several different
reasons, not least of which is improper installation. It is important to
always consult the manufacturer specifications for tightening sequence
and bolt torque when installing any gasket. The main cause of gasket
failure in an exhaust system is heat. The exhaust gaskets that have
been offered over the years can not withstand the extreme temperature of
a vehicles exhaust system. Most of the top brands you have been using
over the years are made of composite materials. These materials are made
of a blend of different natural fibers and synthetic compounds which are
bound together with rubber products.
The concept behind evaluating a gasket in a high
temperature application is
time vs. temperature.
Simply put, it is just a matter of time until the extreme
temperature in the exhaust system eventually burns away at the different
ingredients of a composite material resulting in an exhaust leak.
At best the rubber binders begin to burn out at 250 -
400 degrees
Fahrenheit. Remflex
Exhaust Gaskets are made from 100% graphite and are good to 3000
degrees
Fahrenheit, so
they will never burn out!
You may have noticed a distinctive odor when first running a
vehicle after installing one of the top brand exhaust gaskets you used
in the past. That's the smell of the rubber binders in the composite
materials burning almost immediately. When rubber over-heats it begins
to shrink and lose volume as well as harden and become brittle. That's
why you are instructed to re-torque other brands of exhaust gaskets
regularly, and why your vehicle is likely to develop an exhaust leak if
you don't.
Remflex Exhaust Gaskets are made from
100% graphite and are good to 3000 degrees
Fahrenheit, so they will never shrink and you
never have to re-torque.
In addition to the rubber, the other natural fibers and synthetics used
to make the other top brands of exhaust gaskets will eventually burn out
as well. Depending on the make-up of the composite material, it is just
a matter of time vs. temperature. Eventually enough of the gasket will
have burned out to cause an exhaust leak.
Remflex Exhaust Gaskets are made from 100% graphite and are good to
3000 degrees
Fahrenheit, so they are not effected by the extreme temperature of a
vehicles exhaust system. Not over time! Not ever! |
